CAVALLERIA RUSTICANA This year New Cornwall Opera again visits both the wonderful Minack theatre on the cliffs at Porthcurno and later to the large Hall for Cornwall theatre with a one night production in each. The company will perform Masgagni's glorious opera Cavalleria Rusticana and also launch the New Cornwall Opera Orchestra at the Minack. NCO's Cav is sung in English. Purists will lament that it is not in the natural Italian but be assured it still sounds sublimely beautiful! Book now for the Minack, Sunday May 13th 2012. People came not once, but twice to the Minack, and then booked to see the opera for a third time at the Hall for Cornwall In Cav, Kate Wood plays Santuzza. Last year, Kate was credited by critics for her delicately balanced performance of the young Japanese girl Cio-Cio San with such comments as 'a powerful and moving portrayal, at times beautiful' and 'not only in fine voice, her body language also speaks volumes'. This year, as the company takes develops further, we are pleased to formerly launch the New Cornwall Opera Orchestra. This will play at both performances of Cavalleria Rusticana and form the foundation of players to accompany next years Minack/HfC production, La Boheme. |
